The Dallas Morning News featured an obituary in its Sept. 15 editions for Kerney Laday, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Texas Health Resources, who died Sept. 8. Laday, a longtime executive with Xerox Corp., joined the Texas Health board in 2002 and was elected chairman in January.

Texas Health Alliance on Local News, in Fort Worth Business Press, Becker's Hospital Review

Technology at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance that will help give patients an exceptional experience was featured Sept. 14 on KXAS-TV (Ch. 5) and WFAA-TV (Ch. 8). Clint Abernathy, director of business optimization and ancillary services, and Kathi Cox, project consultant, were interviewed. WFAA also featured the hospital's community event on Sept. 15.

The hospital was also featured in this week's Fort Worth Business Press and on Becker's Hospital Review. Winjie Tang Miao, hospital president, was quoted in the Fort Worth Business Press article.

Texas Health Allen on featured a story about Jeff Reecer being named president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen. The story quoted Reecer and Steve Hanson, North Zone operations leader.

Texas Institute for Surgery on KDAF-TV

A report on KDAF-TV (Ch. 33) featured the progressive tension sutures technique, which eliminates the need for surgical drains in tummy tuck procedures. The technique was developed by Drs. Harlan Pollock and his son Todd Pollock, both cosmetic surgeons on the medical staff at Texas Institute for Surgery at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.

  • Maureen Bottom has been promoted to director of patient access for Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman. Bottom previously was admissions manager for Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth.
  • Karen Bell, a nurse at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth, has received a 2012 Nursing Excellence Award from The award is part of an annual competition to honor superior nurses in nine regions across the United States.
