An article in the current H&HN magazine on health IT planning included a case study on Texas Health Resources’ electronic health system. Ed Marx, chief information officer for Texas Heath, was quoted. Marx noted that IT is an integral part of strategy planning and that the system is working to roll out mobile health tools to engage both patients and physicians as part of well-being initiatives.

Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth, USMD Arlington on KXAS-TV
A report on KXAS-TV (Ch. 5) analyzed North Texas hospitals’ readmission rates as reported in a study funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The KXAS report noted that Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth had the lowest nonsurgical readmission rate of area hospitals, and USMD Hospital of Arlington has the lowest surgical readmission rate.

Sue Shields, director of cancer services at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, was quoted in this month’s issue of Arthritis Today magazine in a story about aromatherapy and scents that help relieve arthritis and fibromyalgia pain.
