PHD's Maitre Earns National Nursing Award
Deb Maitre, director of women’s and infants’ services at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, has been recognized with the national Nursing Spectrum/NurseWeek Excellence Award in Management. One of only six winners from around the country, Maitre was featured in the Star Community Newspapers, including the Plano Star-Courier, McKinney Courier Gazette and Lewisville Leader.
PHD Eating Disorders Experts Host Book Signing
Sandy Mullen, R.N., an eating disorders specialist at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, has authored a new book, Swinging Door of Addiction: A Spiritual Guide to Recovery. Mullen and co-author Cathy Napier, former director of PHD’s chemical dependency program, hosted a book signing on Nov. 14 at the Borders West Village location. Their book gives readers a glimpse into the world of dual addictions, substance abuse and eating disorders. A story about their work was on several Web sites, including iStockAnalyst.com, MarketWatch.com and EarthTimes.com.
HMWR in Cleburne Times-Review
Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital was recognized in the Cleburne Times-Review. The Nov. 14 story showcased the donation of 930 onesies to the hospital by the Johnson County Child Fatality Review Team. The onesies, provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services with the saying “This side up (in my crib),” are designed to raise awareness that infants should be placed on their back. The story also included a photo with Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital staff and three babies born at the hospital. In the photograph were Jackie Laws, nursing superintendent who held Brooklyn Norman; Lori Hammond, Walls unit secretary holding Kylie Smitherman; Blake Kretz, Walls president; and Lisa Trojacek, Walls OBT, holding Paisley Chambers.
