Harris Methodist HEB Hospital's Tongan Initiative, which provides preventative care to the Tongan community in Euless, was featured in the Star-Telegram on Dec. 19. Stephen Buksh, M.D., chief of internal medicine at Harris Methodist HEB Hospital and a volunteer physician for the Tongan clinic, discussed the great need for primary care in the community. Buksh's devotion to volunteerism is shared by his 11-year-old son Ben, who helps check in patients at the clinic.
Filieta Ofa, R.N., nurse manager in Labor and Delivery at Arlington Memorial Hospital, volunteers her time at the clinic alongside Buksh, and shared her insight into the unique medical needs of her community. HMHEB community benefit coordinator Amy Hampton, MSPH, shared how the program has been embraced by the community.

Girl Scout Donates Knitted Hats to HMFW NICU Babies
A Girl Scout who knitted hats for babies in Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital's NICU will appear on KXAS-TV (Channel 5) and KTVT-TV (Channel 11) on Dec. 19. Kate McCasland has been donating the hats each year as a Girl Scout project. McCasland was born at 25 weeks gestation and cared for in the hospital's NICU 14 years ago. She donated 104 hats, one for each day she was in the hospital.
