PHD pediatrician discusses JAMA studies on KRLD-AM
Last weekend's Sunday Morning News on KRLD-AM (1080) included a story with Dr. Amy Hayes, a pediatrician at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Dr. Hayes spoke about two recent studies from the Journal of the American Medical Association. The studies looked into the amount of time children spend watching TV; and how local smoking ordinances affect the number of teens who experiment with cigarettes and eventually become chronic smokers.
HMFW's Kaufmann featured in fertility story in Fort Worth Child
Robert Kaufmann, M.D., reproductive endocrinologist at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital, is featured in this month’s Fort Worth Child magazine in a story about getting pregnant and the impact of stress on fertility. Kaufmann said that everyday stress should not affect women who are having regular menstrual cycles and are ovulating. He adds that extreme stress, like a death in the family or a chronic illness, could affect fertility.
Nurses' Lounge interviews employees at PHP and HMFW for upcoming article
Nurses' Lounge magazine interviewed employees at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano and Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital for an upcoming story on how area hospitals help their nurses relieve work-related stress. A reporter for the magazine spoke with PHP's Mike Evans, R.N., MS, vice president of operations and chief nursing officer, and Eileen Hoffman, R.N., MS, MBA, director of nursing. She also interviewed Sue Shields, RN, director of cancer services at HMFW and Erin Pemberton, R.N., ICU nurse at HMFW about the benefits of clinical aromatherapy in relieving ICU nurses stress, as well as Bill Wood, director of pastoral care at HMFW, and Angelo Betancourt, chaplain, about the different ways chaplains are debriefing nurses.
HMFW in KTVT-TV story about elevator safety
HMFW was part of a story last night on KTVT-TV (Ch. 11) about elevator safety. HMFW responded to all of the reporter’s inquiries with factual information, much of with was not reported. The story reflected a one-sided perspective to this story. We're examining our processes to make sure we're complying with elevator safety codes at all our facilities.
