The Dallas Business Journal reported that Texas Health Resources has received more than $19.5 million in Medicare electronic health record (EHR) incentive payments. Texas Health is one of the first health systems nationwide to receive the payments for meeting “meaningful use” criteria for its EHR. Eleven Texas Health hospitals qualified for the payments. Doug Hawthorne, Texas Health CEO, was quoted.

Wendy Barrow, safety manager at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, was interviewed by KTVT-TV (Ch. 11) and KTXA-TV (Ch. 21) for a story about the hospital’s preparedness in the event a tornado hits the Metroplex, similar to the one that hit Joplin, Mo. Barrow talked about the hospital’s regular drills and ongoing efforts to be prepared.
