An article in July 5 editions of The Dallas Morning News on the new president of a major area hospital discussed the rising number of female health care leaders at Metroplex facilities. It mentioned that women lead five of Texas Health’s wholly owned hospitals, and noted that Winjie Tang Miao was named president of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle at age 29 and now also leads Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance.

A story recently appeared in the Star-Telegram about Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle's Better L.I.F.E. program. The article featured several of the seniors who participate in the line dancing class.

Amy Goodson, registered sports dietitian at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, was interviewed by WBAP-AM (820) for a story about a new study that shows snacking, instead of portion size, is the leading factor to contributing to obesity in America.

Nurse executives at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas were featured in a recent article on NurseZone.com. Cole Edmonson, D.N.P., R.N., FACHE, NEA-BC, chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care at Texas Health Dallas, spoke about ways to prevent nurse bullying at the workplace. The article also quoted June Marshall, D.N.P., R.N., NEA-BC, director of advancing professional nursing practice.

Texas Health Plano on KTVT-TV, KDAF-TV

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is expected to be featured on newscasts for KTVT-TV (Ch. 11) and KDAF-TV (Ch. 33). Sharon Hillgartner, APRN, WHNP-BC, nurse practitioner with Texas Health Plano’s Center for Cancer Risk Reduction and Genetics, was interviewed about the center and a new study on mammograms.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano was featured in a story on NeighborsGo.com. The story highlighted the Patriot Award that Dr. Jeffrey Canose and Dr. Julia Janich have received from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. In addition to the Patriot Awards for Canose and Janich, Texas Health Plano’s pharmacy department was honored with the Above and Beyond Award. Duane Deaver, a pharmacist at Texas Health Plano and member of the Army Reserve, nominated them for the award because of the support provided to him during his mobilizations. The story quoted Deaver and Canose.
