I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Health Care Report.”
Every business leader has to keep up with the latest developments in his or her respective industry. Did you ever wonder how the physician or nurse taking care of you manages to keep up with the latest advances in medical knowledge and technology? One way is through continuing medical education, or CME.
The scope of medical knowledge is rapidly expanding. At Texas Health Research & Education Institute, the research and education arm of Texas Health Resources, we work to keep your health care professionals’ knowledge and skills up-to-date through innovative continuing medical education programs. This means using the latest educational technologies to reach health care professionals where they are.
Along with traditional classrooms, physicians and nurses take continuing medical education courses on their computers and through satellite broadcasts.
Texas Health Research & Education Institute’s courses focus on quality and patient safety, and they equip our physicians and nurses to apply the most current medical knowledge. This helps them respond to the ever-changing health care needs of our communities.
Last year alone, health care professionals at Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist and Texas Health Arlington Memorial received more than 48,000 credit hours through our continuing medical education courses, and patients throughout North Texas reaped the benefits.
For Texas Health Resources and its faith based family of hospitals, Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist, and Texas Health Arlington Memorial, I’m Doug Hawthorne.
