I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Health Care Report.”

You have probably seen a new name on the Texas Health hospital serving your community — Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist or Texas Health Arlington Memorial. And you may have seen some of the communications across North Texas explaining the change.

It is important to us that you know this change isn’t a merger or a buyout; quite the contrary. Texas Health hospitals have been part of the same non-profit, faith-based Texas Health Resources system for more than 11 years now.

The new naming architecture is a strategic decision to help our communities understand they have access to an entire system of resources wherever they live. It is part of Texas Health’s commitment to transform the delivery of health care in North Texas.

With 18,000 employees, 6,300 nurses, and more than 3,000 physicians practicing at our hospitals, Texas Health is the third largest employer in North Texas and the largest health care system in terms of patients served.

Rest assured, Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist and Texas Health Arlington Memorial are still part of the same non-profit, community-based health care system with the same great people dedicated to faith-based values. We are striving to continuously improve and grow to meet the needs of the people and communities we serve.

For Texas Health Resources and its faith based family of hospitals, Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist, and Texas Health Arlington Memorial, I’m Doug Hawthorne.
