I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Health Care Report.”
For a moment I would like to step away from the business of health care and talk about the soul of health care. Paul M. Bass Jr. has died. But what he left behind is indeed the soul of health care. In our community, Paul was an advocate for quality health care along with being a remarkable communitarian.
In so many parts of Dallas and throughout North Texas, his involvement in improving the health and well-being of patients and their families through his commitment to Parkland Memorial Hospital, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, the Dallas Medical Resource, and to each and every hospital and health care system in our community, will be his legacy.
His gifts of integrity, humor and respect have touched the lives of thousands throughout Dallas and North Texas. He will be missed, and we give thanks for his life and offer our prayers of peace to his wife, Carla, and their family.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
