I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Health Care Report.”
I’d like to invite you to participate in the 19th annual HeartBeat 5K and Healthy Heart Fair on Saturday, May 8, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the healthy heart fair starts at 8:30. Free parking is available.
The beneficiaries of this year’s race are Community Dental Care, Healing Hands Ministries, and the Women’s and Pediatric Clinics at Texas Health Dallas.
The Heartbeat 5K and Healthy Heart Fair is hosted by Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation and the PHorum, one of the foundation’s signature volunteer organizations. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, 100 percent of the proceeds from this important community event are reinvested in the neighborhoods surrounding Texas Health Dallas. Over the years, the event has raised more than $800,000 to address critical health needs in these neighborhoods. Programs funded have included immunizations for children and seniors; health education campaigns about hand-washing, asthma and childhood obesity in local schools; after-school tutoring for at-risk children; construction of safe playgrounds and more.
Registration for the race is $20 in advance or $25 on race day. For more information, visit TexasHealth.org/HB5K or call 214-345-8442.
We look forward to seeing you at the HeartBeat 5K and Healthy Heart Fair on Saturday, May 8.
For our faith-based family of hospitals — Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist, and Texas Health Arlington Memorial — I’m Doug Hawthorne.
