Making a Promise to North Texas (Part 1)|

I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Heath Care Report.”
Texas Health Resources is making a bold promise to transform health care in North Texas. Earlier this year, the THR board of trustees approved a new 10-year strategic focus for the organization. That’s a big departure from the three-year strategic plans commonly developed by health care organizations.
THR believes a long-range approach is necessary to meet the expectations of the people in the communities we serve.
Business leaders expect changes in health care costs and improved patient outcomes. Government, which pays the biggest share of health care dollars, expects improvements in quality and safety, and greater emphasis on wellness and prevention. Physicians expect more efficient health care delivery models. Consumers expect and deserve improvements in access, convenience, cost, quality and service.
As the largest hospital system in North Texas, THR is taking the lead in transforming the delivery of health care. Change won’t happen overnight. Over the next 10 years, THR will strive to become a national benchmark of quality and customer service excellence in health care.
We’ll talk more about the transformation of health care in upcoming editions of The Business of Health Care Report.
For Texas Health Resources and its faith-based hospitals – Harris Methodist, Presbyterian and Arlington Memorial – I’m Doug Hawthorne.
