I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Heath Care Report.”
Texas Health Resources has made a bold promise to transform health care in North Texas. According to our new 10-year strategic focus, we will concentrate on five areas during the first three years of the plan.
The first focus is to strengthen our organizational culture to enable care givers to deliver exceptional results. We will build on the strengths of our faith-based values and strive for ever-greater achievement, honesty and professional discipline.
The second focus is to enhance relationships with physicians who practice on the medical staffs of our hospitals. We plan to create new opportunities for physicians to collaborate with THR and other physicians.
The third focus is on a comprehensive view of quality that includes process improvements, increased physician involvement in quality and safety initiatives, and enhancements to customer service.
Our fourth area of focus is to improve our cost effectiveness and provide the best value for customers and payers.
The fifth focus is to make THR an integrated provider and coordinator of care to help consumers navigate the increasingly complex health care environment. Working with physicians, this could include an expanded network of alternate care facilities that provide convenient access to appropriate, effective and efficient care.
We truly believe the next 10 years will see a transformation of health care.
For Texas Health Resources and its faith-based hospitals – Harris Methodist, Presbyterian and Arlington Memorial – I’m Doug Hawthorne.
