I’m Doug Hawthorne, CEO of Texas Health Resources, with “The Business of Health Care Report.”
In April, Texas Health Resources convened a group of local business and community leaders at the North Texas Health Care Forum to work together towards health care reform.
The event sparked an ongoing collaboration between Texas Health Resources and local business and community leaders who have been working since April to develop a health care reform policy agenda I believe all North Texans can agree upon.
The 2008-2009 North Texas Health Care Reform Policy Agenda provides a framework we can use to reach the goal of healthcare that is accessible, affordable, and of the highest quality. The policy agenda emphasizes a focus on wellness; promotion of efficient, affordable, high quality health care; the need to establish a regional exchange of electronic health information, and support of health coverage for all, paid for by all.
We will be working hard in the coming weeks and months to present this policy agenda to our lawmakers, and we hope you will join us in our efforts to transform healthcare. We simply can’t do it unless we all work together. Visit TexasHealth.org/reform to learn more and to find a letter that you can print off, sign and send to your government representatives, urging them to focus on health care reform.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more information about the North Texas Health Care Reform Policy Agenda.
For Texas Health Resources and its faith based hospitals, Texas Health Presbyterian, Texas Health Harris Methodist, and Texas Health Arlington Memorial, I’m Doug Hawthorne.
