Diagnostic Services in the Community

Texas Health Winnsboro offers a wealth of imaging services — including digital mammography, bone density scans, ultrasounds, computed tomography (CT) scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests and nuclear medicine studies — to provide screening and diagnostic exams for patients in the area.

These services allow us to screen patients for potential health threats and begin intervention, if necessary. The earlier health concerns are detected, the sooner a patient’s treatment and recovery process can begin.

To complement the array of high-level imaging services, Texas Health Winnsboro also utilizes a picture archiving and communication system (PACS).

“PACS transmits images to radiologists in Dallas,” says Rita Johnson, lead technologist at Texas Health Winnsboro. “Because we’re a small hospital and the radiologists in Dallas work efficiently, our patients have quick access to test results.”

The images collected by PACS can be read in outpatient offices or hospitals anywhere in the Texas Health Presbyterian hospital system. Patients who choose to go outside the system will be given a CD containing all their imaging information.

One benefit of Texas Health Winnsboro is the location. Local residents can travel easily to the hospital and avoid devoting time and energy to traveling for care outside of the community.

“As a smaller facility, we are fortunate enough to be able to take our time with each patient,” Johnson says. “We feel blessed to be able to provide high-quality care in a hometown atmosphere.”
