Free Flu Shots Available at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — It’s time to get your flu shot!
To help community members protect themselves against influenza, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville is offering free flu shots beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the hospital’s Community Outreach Building No. 2 on the north parking lot.
The free immunizations are limited to the first 100 guests, so plan to come early. The minimum age for the shots is 18. Reservations are not required and no documentation is needed to get the shots. For more information, contact Tina Virgin, R.N., M.S.N., Texas Health Stephenville community health advocate and clinical education specialist, at 254-965-1158.
Influenza is a serious disease that can lead to hospitalization and sometimes even death. An annual seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to reduce the chances that you will get seasonal flu and lessen the chance that you will spread it to others. When more people get vaccinated against the flu, less flu can spread through the community.
The flu shots are being offered through the hospital’s Faith Community Nursing program. Texas Health Stephenville works with Erath County faith communities to promote health, prevention and wellness. Volunteer registered nurses help improve health in the congregational setting before, during and after an illness.
“We are offering the free flu shot clinic to help reduce the number of local residents diagnosed with flu this year,” said Virgin. “We are glad to be able to provide the shots through our Faith Community Nursing program and Texas Health Stephenville’s Community Health Improvement department.”
