HMHEB Employee Honored with Community Service Award 09/21/2007
BEDFORD, Texas — Brenda Whitley, special events coordinator at Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital , was recently honored with the Community Service Award from the HEB Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes outstanding community service that benefits all of Northeast Tarrant County.
Whitley has been active with the American Cancer Society, having served as the chair of the major gift task force, the metro income development committee and as chair of the Tarrant County board. ARTSNET and Hugworks both count her as a past chair and active volunteer. She has chaired the spouse and youth events for conventions of the Texas Society of CPAs, co-chaired the entertainment committee of the Texas State Republican Party Convention and chaired the finance campaign for the First United Methodist Church of Hurst. She is a recipient of SafeHaven’s Legacy of Women Award and the Arts Leagues’ Shining Star Award.
Prior to joining Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital, Brenda served as a consumer research associate for American Airlines and a first grade teacher at Colleyville Elementary, where she was named “Teacher of the Year.” She holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of North Texas in Denton.
