HMHEB Achieves Top 100 Quality Award for Heart and Pneumonia Care 01/11/2006
BEDFORD, Texas – Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital has been awarded a Top 100 Quality Award by Total Benchmark Solutions, a provider of benchmarking services for the health care industry. The hospital ranked in the 96th percentile in the nation for its treatment of patients with heart failure, heart attacks and pneumonia.
The award and ranking are based on quality information the hospital submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for January to December 2004. Eighteen different measures were used to rate Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital's treatment of heart failure, heart attacks and pneumonia. Hospitals around the nation submit quality information to CMS as a part of its Quality Initiative, which aims to standardize hospital quality data so consumers can make informed decisions about their health care.
“We are proud to receive this award and to be recognized for our work in heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia care,” said Kirk King, president of Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital. “Our employees and physicians on the medical staff are dedicated to providing the best care for all of our patients, and we're pleased their accomplishments are being recognized.”
