Texas Health Springwood Now Offering Behavioral Health Services in Azle|
AZLE, Texas — Residents of Azle and the surrounding communities now have access to outpatient behavioral health and chemical dependency treatment close to home on the campus of Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Azle.
In the past two years, the number of patients from Azle seeking help from Texas Health Springwood Hospital has increased by about 40 percent. Opening the outpatient center in Azle will enable those patients to stay close to home for their care.
“It is crucial that individuals be able to stay near their loved ones when undergoing intensive treatment,” said Ramona Osburn, director of Texas Health Springwood. “We see so many patients from Azle and the surrounding communities it was a natural fit to open the center along with the new education center at Texas Health Azle.”
Texas Health Springwood will offer three hours of group therapy a day in Azle. The center will offer separate programs for psychiatric services and chemical dependency.
“We are staying true to our commitment to expand our scope of services for the residents of the Azle community,” said Winjie Tang Miao, president of Texas Health Azle. “Adding behavioral health services in Azle is just another way we care for our community — mind, body and spirit.”
The need for these services is clearly in the community, Osburn said. In 2007, 192 people in Parker, Tarrant and Wise counties died from suicide, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Patients may be referred from a physician, therapist, psychiatrist or Texas Health Azle. Patients also may call 817-355-7771 to schedule a free assessment to determine if treatment is needed.
Texas Health Springwood started as an inpatient unit 30 years ago and now operates a freestanding psychiatric hospital in Bedford and five outpatient treatment centers in Allen, Arlington, Azle, Southlake and Southwest Fort Worth.
