Open House Planned for Virginia Clay Dorman Breast Care Center at Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth
03/15/2012

FORT WORTH, Texas — The Virginia Clay Dorman Breast Care Center will celebrate completion of a significant expansion project with an open house and dedication on Wednesday, March 28, at the Center, located at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth, 6100 Harris Parkway.

The open house will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. and again from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., with tours available at both times. The private dedication will be held mid-morning.

Among those attending the dedication will be Ms. Dorman, whose generous donation provided the naming rights for the center, and Mayor Betsy Price, who will speak on the impact the new center will have on the community.

The completed work more than doubles the size of the facility, to 6,800 square feet. The additional space will enable the center to provide a fourth suite (or room) to perform digital mammography procedures, a “stereotactic” suite where biopsies can be performed, and a private consultation suite.

In addition, a nurse navigator is being hired to assist with biopsies and to ensure continuity of care.

These additions make the facility the only full-service breast center in southwest Fort Worth, able to perform services ranging from screenings to diagnostics to biopsies to surgery. Patients thus will be able to get comprehensive breast care without having to travel to multiple facilities.

Philanthropic support for the project totaled $1 million. In addition to the gift from Ms. Dorman, other key donors include The Ryan Foundation, Martha Sue Parr Trust, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jones.

Each month, Texas Health Southwest serves the screening mammogram needs of nearly 1,000 women. The Center is located on the ground floor of the hospital’s Harris Center building, and partners with physician offices on campus to offer mammography screenings as part of an annual well-woman exam.
