HMSW Announces New Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer

FORT WORTH, Texas — Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital announced that Mary Robinson will begin her role as the new chief nursing officer and vice president-patient services on June 30.

“Mary is a magnificent addition to the leadership team at Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital,” said Brett McClung, president of HMSW. “She brings more than 20 years of experience in nursing and was crucial in Harris Methodist Fort Worth earning the Magnet designation. We are excited about having her on our team.”

Robinson began her career with Harris Methodist Hospitals in 1981. In her most recent position she served as director of professional practice and regional director of clinical education for the west region at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital. She also served as the hospital's Magnet project director.

“I am looking forward to working with the staff at Harris Methodist Southwest,” said Robinson. “The recent expansion of services provides wonderful opportunities for the growth of the role of nurses.”

Robinson is a licensed registered nurse in the state of Texas, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), summa cum laude, from the University of Texas-Arlington (UTA). She also earned both a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in nursing from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. She taught as an adjunct nursing instructor in UTA's B.S.N. program in the early 1990s.

Robinson has earned a number of professional awards. She was named one of the DFW area's “Great 100 Nurses” in 2000, received the YWCA Tribute to Women in Business honor in 2002 and the UTA Distinguished Alumni designation from the university's school of nursing in 2003. She received the HMFW President's Award in 2005. Robinson was on the Texas Nurses Association (TNA) Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005 and is still part of the TNA's education committee. In 2006, the TNA presented her with their Leadership in Clinical Education Award to the Members of the North Texas Consortium of Schools of Nursing and their Practice Partners.

Robinson is a native of Fort Worth and lives there with Paul, her husband of 22 years. They have one son and two daughters.
