Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth Names New Surgical Services Manager|
FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest Fort Worth administrators recently appointed Belinda Read, R.N., B.S.N., M.B.A., C.N.O.R., as the new manager of surgical services. Read brings 20 years of operating room experience to the position, with an extensive background in cardiac surgery.
In her new role, Read will oversee the daily operations of the hospital's surgical services department.
Read began her career as a hospital corpsman, with the designation of operating room technician, for the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1987-95 and during the Persian Gulf War. During that time, she also worked as a civilian certified scrub tech for St. Francis Health System in Tulsa, Okla. and attended nursing school at the University of Tulsa.
After that, she served in various surgical nursing positions before joining Baylor Health Care System as a cardiovascular service line coordinator and member of the vascular surgery team in 2001. She was manager of the cardiovascular operating room at Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth from 2005 to 2006 and served as risk manager/patient safety officer for North Hills Hospital from 2006 to 2008.
Most recently, Read served as the manager of surgical services for St. John Health System in Owasso, Okla., where she managed the operating room, recovery room, pre-operative and patient admissions testing areas, central sterile and anesthesia departments.
Read earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Tulsa in 1999 and a master's degree in business a from Texas Woman’s University in 2006. She is a member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses and a participant in foreign charitable surgical missions.
