Manager of Safety and Security at HMSW Receives Calvin Littlejohn Award for Men of Distinction|
FORT WORTH, Texas — Ron Coulter, manager of Safety and Security for Harris Methodist Southwest Hospital (HMSW), is among six area business and civic leaders awarded the Calvin Littlejohn Award for Men of Distinction at the Bigger and Better Business Awards Banquet on April 5.
The Alpha Theta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. presents the award annually to men who exhibit leadership qualities and contribute to improving their communities. Coulter said he was chosen based on his community activities, including his strong involvement in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Worth and membership in the Boy Scouts of America Longhorn Council board.
“My focus is on making the world a better place, and that starts with one person at a time,” Coulter said. “I try to convey that to the young people I meet. That’s what the award is really about—educating young men so they are productive citizens who contribute to the community.”
Coulter is the membership committee chair of the local chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives, chairman of the Board of Trustees for Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a member of the National Board for Respiratory Care. He was the DFW chapter president of the National Association of Health Services Executives from 2006 to 2007 and chairman of its membership committee from 2004 to 2005. He was also a board member of the Boy Scouts of America Longhorn Council from 2004 to 2005.
At HMSW, Coulter manages employees in safety and security and acts as a liaison to all departments of the hospital. He has been nominated for the annual leadership award several years in a row.
“I think being a good leader means reaching out to someone that needs help,” Coulter said. “It’s being a mentor, a counselor, or someone who can guide a person to achieve goals that will benefit them and benefit the community.”
