Cleburne Physician Recognized for Widespread Community Service Contributions|
CLEBURNE, Texas – Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital (HMWR) and Texas Health Resources recently named local physician Mike White a Community Service Award recipient.
“Dr. White’s dedication to patients goes beyond the walls of his practice,” said Blake Kretz, president of Harris Methodist Walls Regional Hospital. “He’s a tremendous asset to the hospital and to the Cleburne and Joshua areas.”
White has practiced family medicine in Cleburne and Joshua for the past 25 years. He manages more than 700 Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder patients and is medical director at Happy Hills Farm, an education and learning environment for children with mood disorders and ADHD.
He also is a deacon at First Baptist Church and leads the church missions committee. Dr. White has participated in medical mission trips to Guatemala, Honduras and the Philippines in the past three years.
Texas Health Resources, the largest health system in North Texas, uses the Community Service Awards to recognize employees, departments, hospitals and physicians on the medical staff who participate in service projects to address critical needs or improve the health of the community. Three Community Service Awards were presented at a recent employee banquet.
As an award recipient, White received a $1,000 grant to donate to the nonprofit organization of his choice.
White was recognized for community service projects including participating in medical mission trips, working with Mammograms Are a Must! Program, and volunteering at HOPE clinic, a free community clinic. He donated the $1,000 grant to HOPE clinic.
“By providing free care to those who cannot afford medical care, we can make the patients’ lives so much better,” White said. “I have learned that there is a greet need for this service in our community. I have gained the self-satisfaction of providing a needed service.”
Doctors on the medical staff practice independently and are not employees or agents of the hospital.
