Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne Names New Chief Nursing Officer

CLEBURNE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne recently selected a new chief nursing officer — Lorrie Normand, R.N., B.S.N., M.H.A., who is also one of this year’s recipients of the prestigious Healthcare Hero Award. She will take on her new role beginning May 7.

After conducting an extensive search, hospital leadership selected Normand, who possesses nearly 20 years of nursing leadership experience.

“We wanted an individual that demonstrated a commitment to service excellence and patient satisfaction,” said Texas Health Cleburne President Blake Kretz. “Lorrie’s track record details her passion for achieving strategic organizational goals by building strong, interpersonal relationships. We anticipate Lorrie producing those same positive results at Texas Health Cleburne.”

“Building a strong team with positive relationships will be the foundation for future successes at Texas Health Cleburne,” Normand said. “Life is too short not to enjoy what we do each day and who we do it with; and I plan to share that philosophy with hospital employees, volunteers and physicians on the medical staff.”

Normand previously served as vice president of quality management and interim chief nursing officer for Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth. She has also served as chief nursing officer for Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kan.

Normand’s pursuit of a career in health care began in high school.

“I fell in love with the hospital environment and being involved with patient care when I served as a junior volunteer,” Normand said. “That’s when I made the decision to become a nurse, and my passion remains as strong as it was back when I was just a teenager.”

And Normand admits to another one of her passions, which revolves around college football. “I even have a sports application downloaded to my phone so I can keep up with games, stats, you name it,” she said.

Even though Normand is an avid football fan, she considers herself an avid scholar as well, amidst balancing work and family life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Texas Christian University, a master’s in health care administration from the University of Texas at Arlington, and is pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice.

“Years ago, I married my best friend, and I’m proud to say that we have three wonderful, grown kids,” Normand said. “My daughter and two sons all live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, so I thankfully get to spend time with them on a regular basis.”

Normand said she’s looking forward to joining another family, of sorts. “I am very excited about the team at Texas Health Cleburne, and I am ready for me and my family to become an integral part of the hospital as well as the community.”
