Texas Health Cleburne Employee Donates Hair to Locks of Love|
CLEBURNE, Texas — For three years, Joseph “Adam” Jobe went without a haircut.
Jobe, a nursing administrative supervisor at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne, was on a mission to grow his hair at least 10 inches. He wanted to make a donation to Locks of Love in honor of a childhood friend who recently lost her battle with breast cancer. Three years and 18 inches later, Jobe not only reached his goal, he exceeded it.
“I was on a mission, and I was doing this for a person who means a lot to me,” Jobe said.
Jobe’s friend was diagnosed with breast cancer after she graduated from high school.
After battling the disease for many years, she passed away in 2008. To honor her memory, Jobe and others who knew her decided to grow their hair at least 10 inches — the length required by Locks of Love — and donate it to the non-profit organization. Locks of Love provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.
Jobe recently sent off his locks. “It was all for her,” he said. “I really felt good about this donation and how it will help a child who has experienced hair loss due to a medical condition.”
“Our employees personify our mission of improving the health and well-being of the people in the communities we serve,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, Texas Health Cleburne president. “Adam’s dedication to his friend and others who suffer from cancer is one example of his generosity and dedication.”
