Women’s Diagnostic Center at Texas Health Plano Earns Center of Excellence Designation

PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano’s Sue A. deMille Women's Diagnostic Center has been named a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by The American College of Radiology (ACR).

"We are very proud to have earned this honor, which is only bestowed upon breast centers that have achieved the highest practice standards in caring for patients," said Dr. Patricia Krakos, a radiologist on the medical staff at Texas Health Plano and medical director of the Women's Diagnostic Center. "These standards include excellence in imaging quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control and quality assurance programs."

To earn the center of excellence designation, breast centers must be accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).

"We are also accredited to perform dedicated breast MRI and MRI-guided biopsy," Krakos added. "Patients can be confident that they are receiving the highest level of quality, comprehensive care in a compassionate environment."

The Women's Diagnostic Center underwent several peer-review evaluations during the accreditation process. Board-certified physicians and medical physicists from the ACR evaluated every aspect of care and diagnostic procedures offered at the center.

“The employees in our Sue A. deMille Women’s Diagnostic Center provide a high quality of service to women seeking breast care diagnostics and treatment,” said Mike Evans, B.S.N., M.S.N., hospital president. “We appreciate the care they provide to each patient in what can be a stressful time for women.”

The center offers annual screening mammograms, diagnostic mammography, 3-D breast imaging, computerized breast evaluation, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and interventional breast procedures.
