Four Texas Health Plano Employees Named 'Top 25 Rad Tech' Winners

PLANO, Texas — Four of this year’s Top 25 Radiologic Technologists in North Texas are from Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano.

Shannon Gutierrez, J.R. (Jody) Roberts, Monic Simpliciano and Kim Thieu from Texas Health Plano were presented the awards by the North Texas Radiologic Technologists Society. The “Top 25 Rad Techs” in North Texas are selected for their overall job performance, special efforts, and community, civic and professional involvement.

“Shannon, J.R., Monic and Kim continually demonstrate clinical and technical excellence, and the utmost professionalism in their interactions with both patients and staff,” said Michael J. Putman, Texas Health Plano’s director of radiology. “This honor is bestowed on technologists who excel clinically and go the extra mile in improving hospital and departmental performance, as well as play active roles in volunteering within their communities.”

Gutierrez is manager of Texas Health Plano’s radiology and imaging department, a position in which she has served for the past year and a half. She joined the hospital three years ago as a clinical system analyst and has been instrumental in numerous hospital initiatives, including community service projects, mentoring programs, and educational and accreditation efforts.

A team leader, Gutierrez is known for her exceptional skills in motivating employees, as well as raising awareness of career and professional development opportunities.

Roberts has served as the lead MRI technologist at Texas Health Plano for the past six years and works diligently with patients and staff to continually raise the bar on customer satisfaction scores.

Roberts joined Texas Health Resources in 1995 and Texas Health Plano in 2003. He earned an associate degree in radiologic sciences in1995 and a bachelor of science degree in radiologic technology in 2008, both from Midwestern State University. Roberts currently is working on a master’s degree from Boston University in healthcare communications.

Simpliciano, a radiographer at Texas Health Plano, graduated from Midwestern State University with an associate degree in radiological sciences. She worked in several healthcare facilities, including Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton, before joining Texas Health Plano in October 2008.

Thieu, also a radiographer at Texas Health Plano, graduated from Brookhaven College with an associate degree in radiological sciences in 2007 and joined Texas Health Plano in January 2008. Prior to working in radiology, Thieu earned bachelor's and master’s degrees in electrical engineering.
