Aging can present unique mental health needs and life challenges that older adults often find difficult to overcome.
The Senior Care Unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Winnsboro assists older adults and their families with understanding and learning to cope with problems related to changes in their mental and physical health. Our goal is to maintain and enhance the patient's dignity during all phases of treatment.
Severe cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety and other mood disorders are not a normal part of the aging process, according to the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. Examples of dangerous behaviors can include: leaving the stove or oven on, driving a vehicle in the spite of confusion and forgetting to take important medications.
The Senior Care Unit offers treatment for people who are having difficult staying at home due to confusion, forgetfulness and poor judgement.
