SmartScore® Heart Scan Special
Detect small heart problems before they become big heart problems.

One leading cause of heart problems is arterial plaque, calcium that builds up on the coronary arteries.  It's the kind of thing that might not be detected by a physical exam, an ordinary EKG or even a stress test.

But it can be detected with a SmartScore® Heart Scan performed using a GE LightSpeed VCT 64-Slice Scanner System.

Before the actual onset of symptoms, a SmartScore® Heart Scan is a sure way to have peace of mind about the health of your heart.  It's all part of the Executive Health Program at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

SmartScore® Heart Scan

If you are a male over the age of 40 or female over the age of 45, do not have a pre-existing heart condition and have one of the following risk factors, you may want to consider a SmartScore® Heart Scan:

  • Consider a SmartScore® Heart Scan if you are a female over age 45 with the risk factors noted at left.Family history of heart disease
  • Hypertension
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Physical inactivityDiabetes

The scan takes about 20 minutes, and for a limited time only during the months of November and December 2009 will cost $370.83. The test is performed using an electrocardiogram that is connected to a scanner to measure calcified plaque in the major vessels of the heart; the non-invasive scanner acquires thousands of x-ray images providing valuable information to help identify potential health risks before they become symptomatic. A physician referral is not necessary if the criteria listed above are met.
