Texas Health Plano is First Hospital in Texas to Offer Next-Generation CT Technology
08/28/2009

PLANO, Texas — Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano is the first hospital in Texas and one of only four in the world to offer patients the next generation of imaging technology.

The LightSpeed® VCT XTe 64-slice computed tomography scanner with Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction (ASIR) delivers high-speed, high-quality images with significantly less radiation, representing an important advancement in CT scan diagnostics. MORE

Physicians on the medical staff at Texas Health Plano use imaging technology advances to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.

Highlights of the Imaging Department include:

  • Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), which allows radiologists on the medical staff to review results on high-resolution computer monitors and also gives most off-site physicians rapid, remote access to test results for consultation when needed
  • 16-slice and 64-slice GE Light Speed CT scanners, which produces cross-sectional images ("slices") that are reconstructed to form a complete, precise image
  • The MRI system offers advanced diagnostic efficiency and high resolution images, including breast imaging.
  • Digital mammography at the Women's Diagnostic Center, which involves less radiation than film mammography and enables improved image storage and electronic image transmission
  • Bone densitometry, which allows for early diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis
