A Better Conversation Discussing difficult subjects with your physician can feel intimidating. To help ease your stress level, keep the following tips in mind:
• Remember that your physician is a professional. No matter how embarrassing you feel your condition may be, more than likely your physician has seen or heard of your symptoms before.
• Don’t be a stranger. Schedule annual physicals to not only keep tabs on your health but also to help build a relationship with your physician. It can be easier to discuss embarrassing situations when you see your physician regularly.
• Talk freely. Don’t think you have to use the correct medical term when explaining symptoms to your physician. Talk openly and describe things as best you can.
