On average, someone suffers a stroke every 45 seconds and someone dies of a stroke every 3.1 minutes. Early diagnosis and treatment is crucial after experiencing a stroke. This prestigious advanced certification demonstrates the hospital's expertise in quickly treating stroke patients.

Each year, about 700,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke, which is the nation's third leading cause of death, according to the Joint Commission. Stroke is a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in the United States, with about 4.7 million stroke survivors alive today.

Symptoms of stroke must be recognized FAST:

  • F - Facial Droop. When the individual smiles, does one side of their face droop?
  • A - Arm Drift. When the individual raises both arms, does one arm drift downward?
  • S - Slurred Speech. When the individual repeats a sentence, are any of the words slurred?
  • T - Time is Key. If a person shows any of the above symptoms, call 911.

LSVT – LOUD Program

Do others ask you to repeat due to:

  • Soft voice
  • Mumbled speech
  • Monotone voice
  • Hoarse voice

LSVT – LOUD is a treatment technique developed to improve vocal loudness and speech clarity for people with Parkinson’s Disease and other disorders. Early intervention is best. Treatment improves voice loudness, speech clarity and facial expression. Life-long practice ensures best results.

The National Institute of Health research has shown that LSVT – LOUD is the most effective voice treatment for Parkinson’s Disease patients. Treatment is provided by licensed Speech/Language Pathologists certified in the LSVT – LOUD technique.

Treatment schedule:

  • 60 minute sessions
  • Four times per week
  • Four consecutive weeks

Doctor’s prescription is required for treatment.

LSVT – BIG Program

Are you having:

  • Trouble standing up
  • Trouble getting in/out of car
  • Impaired walking – small steps, rigidity
  • Impaired writing – small, hard to read
  • Impaired self care – trouble dressing, feeding, brushing teeth

LSVT-BIG is a large movement exercise technique developed to improve walking, balance, and overall control of movement. Early intervention is best.

BIG exercises re-train your muscles to be ACTIVE during everyday life. The result is more freedom of movement and improved muscle control. Life-long practice ensures best results.

Treatment is provided by licensed Occupational and Physical Therapists certified in the LSVT-BIG technique.

Treatment schedule:

  • 60 minute sessions
  • Four times per week
  • Four consecutive weeks
