Two other organizations were also awarded the 2008 T.A.P.E.: Central Texas Workforce of Belton and St. David's Healthcare in Austin.

Patterned after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria and process, the T.A.P.E. was established in 1994 as an annual recognition of Texas organizations that have achieved performance excellence and applied outstanding quality principles in their day-to-day operations.

Texas Award for Performance ExcellenceThe award is presented to manufacturers, service companies, education organizations, small businesses, health care organizations and public organizations that serve as role models for quality, customer satisfaction and performance excellence in the state of Texas.

  • Leadership
  • Strategic planning
  • Customer and market focus
  • Measurement, analysis and knowledge management
  • Human resource focus
  • Process management
  • Results

The evaluation process included individual review, team consensus and an on-site visit by teams of examiners to clarify questions and verify information in the applications.
