Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation to Dedicate New Hamon Tower at Texas Health Dallas 10/01/2009
DALLAS — Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation will host a celebration this evening to mark a significant milestone in Presbyterian history — the opening of the highly anticipated Hamon Tower on the campus of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Hamon Tower is one of the largest expansion projects in the hospital’s four-plus decade history.
The $220 million complex is named for benefactor Mrs. Nancy B. Hamon, as a loving tribute to her late husband, Jake L. Hamon, who was instrumental in the initial development of Texas Health Dallas. Mrs. Hamon contributed $10 million toward the Legacy of Care Campaign to support the construction of the 177-bed tower, which boasts all-private rooms outfitted with the capability for electronic medical records, an advanced imaging center, a state-of-the-art kitchen for patient meal preparation, and many other features to promote more efficient patient care at the bedside. Mrs. Hamon’s gift is the largest single gift the Presbyterian Foundation has received.
“The completion of the Hamon Tower is not only a crowning achievement for Presbyterian, but also for the patients and families we are privileged to serve in this community,” said Jay McAuley, President of Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation. “We could not have realized our vision of providing better health care without the generosity of the many individuals, foundations and corporations who supported the Legacy of Care Campaign. Our donors are leaving a noble legacy for generations of patients to come.”
The Legacy of Care Campaign, led by Texas Health Presbyterian Foundation, supported several capital expansion projects and special initiatives at three Presbyterian hospitals — Texas Health Allen, Dallas and Plano. It was one of the most successful fundraising campaigns in the 20-plus year history of the Foundation. The total philanthropic goal of $70.6 million in cash, pledges and planned and deferred gifts, was remarkably exceeded, with nearly $90 million raised.
Several long-time Presbyterian Foundation supporters comprised the campaign executive committee, including: Chair Jerry Farrington, Vice-chair Nancy Ann Hunt, A. Compton Broders, M.D., Roy Gene Evans, B. Henry Estess, M.D., Denny Holman, Terry Kelley, Margot Perot and John Wroten Jr.
