Event or Class Title   Car Seat Safety Check
Description   This is a free 30-minute appointment.

Make an appointment for your one-on-one session with a certified child passenger safety technician to learn about the best practices for keeping your baby and children safe while traveling in a vehicle. Bring the car seat, the manual for the car seat, the manual for the vehicle, your baby or child (if he/she is born) and all your questions. We will spend at least 30 minutes with you so you can increase your knowledge and confidence that your most precious cargo is safe. Please take advantage of this opportunity before the baby arrives to assure a safe ride home from the hospital.

NOTE: If you have purchased a new seat, please remove the seat from the box and attempt to install the seat in your vehicle prior to your appointment.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 8,959 lives have been saved from 1975 to 2008 due to the proper use of child restraints. In 2008, among children under age five in passenger vehicles, an estimated 244 lives were saved by child restraint use. Research shows that child restraints provide the best protection for all children up to age eight. Proper use of booster seats, child safety seats and seatbelts provide key tools to achieve further fatality reductions. Even when child restraints are used, studies show that 3 out of 4 are used incorrectly. Is yours?
