BLS for Healthcare Provider
This American Heart Association (AHA) course is designed for healthcare providers and other students who are seeking initial or renewal training that offers a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course. The goal of the BLS for Healthcare Providers Course is to train participants to promptly recognize cardiac arrest, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), as part of a team and individually. This course also teaches how to relieve choking. The course includes adult, child, and infant rescue techniques.
The AHA recommends that you take the time to review the objectives provided in the BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual to help you prepare for the program and the written exam. This textbook may be picked up in advance or arrangements may be made for shipping, if time allows, by contacting the Texas Health Arlington Memorial Education Center at 817-960-6408.
You will be practicing skills that require bending, standing, and lifting. If you have physical conditions that might prevent you from participating in the course, please tell the instructor when you arrive for the course. The instructor will work to accommodate your needs within the stated course completion requirements. The class is primarily driven by video instruction and therefore must begin promptly at the scheduled time; unfortunately late arrivals cannot be accommodated.
The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS, ACLS, and PALS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course material, do not represent income to the Association.
