Title   Femoral Neck Fractures in Young Adults (Orthopedics / Fracture Repair)
Description   The purpose of this study is to evaluate detailed description of the size, shape, and orientation of this displaced femoral neck fracture, as this may be helpful in driving the choice of both approach and fixation for these injuries.

Inclusion/Notes   INCLUSION:
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 65 years who experienced a femoral neck fracture

  • Subjects with International Classification of Disease (ICD-9) code:
    i. 820.0 transcervical fracture, closed- 820.00- intracapsular section, unspecified, 820.01- epiphysis (separation)(upper), 820.02-midcervical section, 820.03- base of neck, 820.09- other
    ii. 820.1 trancervical fracture,open- 820.10-intracapsular section, unspecified, 820.11- epiphysis (separation)(upper), 820.12- midcervical section, 820.13- base of neck, 820.19- other

  • Subject required treatment with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code-
    i. 27235-Percutaneous skeletal fixation of femoral fracture proximal end neck
    ii. 27236- Open treatment femoral fracture proximal end neck with internal fixation or prosthetic replacement,

  • Required treatment from 1/1/06 to 12/31/10.

EXCLUSION:
  • Less than 18 years old or greater than 65 years old

  • Subjects without the International Classification of Disease (ICD-9) code:
    i. 820.0 transcervical fracture, closed- 820.00- intracapsular section, unspecified, 820.01- epiphysis (separation)(upper), 820.02-midcervical section, 820.03- base of neck, 820.09- other
    ii. 820.1 trancervical fracture,open- 820.10-intracapsular section, unspecified, 820.11- epiphysis (separation)(upper), 820.12- midcervical section, 820.13- base of neck, 820.19- other

  • Subject did not require treatment with Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code-
    i. 27235-Percutaneous skeletal fixation of femoral fracture proximal end neck
    ii. 27236- Open treatment femoral fracture proximal end neck with internal fixation or prosthetic

  • Did not require treatment from 1/1/06 to 12/31/10.
