Title   Does Modern Nail Geometry Affect Hip Nail Positioning in the Distal Femur?
Description   The purpose of this study is to identify and compare postioning of long nails (metal rods) in femurs in elderly patients(65-100 years old).

Inclusion/Notes   INCLUSION:
  • Subjects between the ages of 65 and 100 years.

  • Subjects who experienced operative fixation of femoral fractures CPT code 27245- treatment if intertrochanteric, peritrochanteric, or subtrochanteric femoral fracture with intramedullary implant, with or without interlocking screws and/or cerclage.

  • Required treatment from January 1, 2008 to November 30, 2011.

  • No known metabolic disease.

EXCLUSION:
  • Less than 65 years old or greater than 100 years old.

  • Subjects who did not experience operative fixation of femoral fractures CPT code 27245- treatment if intertrochanteric, peritrochanteric, or subtrochanteric femoral fracture with intramedullary implant, with or without interlocking screws and/or cerclage.

  • Did not require treatment from January 1, 2008 to November 30, 2011.

  • Known metabolic disease.
