Title   MRI Investigation of Soft Tissues In Total Hip Arthroplasty (Orthopedics / Hip Replacement)
Description   The purpose of the study is to determine how often soft tissue changes occur in patients receiving Metal on Metal (MoM) and Metal on Poly (MoP) hip implants. This study will also evaluate if patient factors or implant factors make a difference in how often soft tissue changes happen.

Inclusion/Notes   INCLUSION:
  • Pre Operative Group:
  • Patients scheduled to receive a THA device.

  • The patient does not have a total hip replacement or total resurfacing hip in their contralateral side.

  • The patient is willing to undergo a preoperative blood draw and participate in the study.

  • The patient consents to participating in the study.

  • Post Operative Group:
  • Patients who have received a Biomet Metal On Poly device or selected types of Biomet Metal on Metal hip device.

  • Patient's hip has not already been revised (revised patients should be approached for consent but will be considered screen failures; (i.e., not count toward enrollment goal).

  • Meets the sampling plan requirements.

EXCLUSION:
  • Pre Operative Group:
  • If the patient already has a THA device in place.

  • If the patient refuses the blood draw.

  • If the patient fails to consent to participating in the study.

  • Post Operative Group:
  • If the patient is contraindicated for MRI (only for patients who have not been revised).

  • If the patient fails to consent to participating in the study.
