Development of a Geriatric Functional Trauma Status (GFTS) Scoring System
The purpose of this study is to collect data about patients who are involved in a trauma (a serious or critical injury) who is over the age of 70. This data will be used to come up with a number (score) that will help predict whether this trauma patient over 70 years of age is likely to be at the same level of functioning (taking care of their self) after they recover from the trauma like they were before their injury. This information could be used by family or significant others along with physicians to decide the extent of treatment the patient will receive after a traumatic injury.
50 patients from PRO2823.
Admitted to Trauma Service = 70 years of age.
No Pre-existing Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) Directive.
