Title	A Safety and Efficacy Trial Evaluating the Use of Apixaban in the Treatment of Symptomatic Deep Vein Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism (Venous Thromboembolism - VTE)
Description	This is a randomized study comparing Lovenox (an FDA approved drug) with Apixaban (an investigational drug) for patients recently diagnosed with a blood clot in their lower extremities or lung. This study is 6 months in length.

Inclusion/Notes	INCLUSION: Men and women ages 18 years of age or older. Clinical diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE). EXCLUSION: Patients who are pregnant. Patients who have abnormal liver or kidney blood tests. Patients who currently require long term anti-coagulation medications. Patients who have a bleeding disorder or history of a recent bleeding abnormality.
