Disease or Condition   Orthopedics / Fracture Repair
Title   Which surgical repair if a broken bone in the lower half of the knee is better (Orthopedics / Fracture Repair)
Description   The purpose of this protocol is to identify, collect, and compare treatment and outcomes for patients with broken bones in the lower half of the knee that were treated with either a single lateral locked plate or a combination of dual medial and lateral plates.

Inclusion/Notes   INCLUSION:
  • All patients treated by the PI between 8/1/1999 and 4/30/09 timeframe and were between the ages of 18 and 99 years old who experienced a bicondylar tibial plateau fracture (CPT code to be evaluated is 27536- bicondylar tibial plateau fracture, with or without internal fixation).

EXCLUSION:
  • The PI will run a database search on all patients in his practice that fulfill the following criteria: 18-99 years of age, CPT code (27536)-bicondylar tibial plateau fracture, with or without internal fixation-- between the timeframe of 8/1/99 to 4/30/09. All others will be excluded.
