Grateful Patients Honor Texas Health Employees through Philanthropic Recognition

Tim Kotera and CeAnn Draayer

Grateful patients and their families are taking their "thank you," for the care they have received at our Texas Health hospitals, one step farther by honoring Texas Health employees through the Grateful Hearts program.

The program allows appreciative patients the opportunity to express their gratitude and support for vital programs and services by giving back directly to the hospital, while recognizing special caregivers who made a difference in their hospital experience.

CeAnn Draayer (pictured with Tim Kotera, Texas Health HEB Rehab Services manager), a physical therapist at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford, was recently honored through the program by an appreciative patient for her outstanding care and service. Congratulations to the employees and departments recognized thus far through the Grateful Hearts program:

Healthy Bites

By Amy Goodson, M.S., R.D., C.S.S.D., L.D.
Executive Health Program Registered Dietitian

Are you hydrated? Did you know that eight, 8 ounce cups of fluid a day is designed for the most sedentary person and that still may not be enough?

The 2004 Dietary Reference Intake recommendations state that adequate intake of fluid is 3.7 liters per day (130 oz or 16 cups) for males and 2.7 liters per day (95 oz or 12 cups) for females. Does this mean just water?  No! You can get adequate fluid from a variety of drinks and foods. Check out where your daily fluid intake can come from:

  • Water
  • Flavored waters like Crystal Light
  • Fruit Juice
  • Coffee
  • Tea
  • Sports drinks
  • Milk
  • Fruit
  • Vegetables
