Community Honors

With 14 hospitals located across the breadth of the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area, Texas Health Resources and its employees are frequently honored by the communities of North Texas.

2010

  • The Center for Learning and Career Development at Texas Health was awarded a Hospital-Based Nursing Education Partnership Program grant of $550,753 from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The grant will fund a joint program between Texas Health Resources and the University of Texas at Arlington and allow Texas Health to expand the capacity of its current BSN program partnership with UTA by developing a faculty clinical education program for Texas Health master's-prepared nurses who want to become adjunct faculty in a Texas Health sponsored program, and increase the number of faculty members to support BSN program growth to 80 per year.

  • Arlington Memorial Hospital chaplain Rev. Jim Dorsey was named the 2007 Minister of the Year by the Spiritual Aims Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Arlington and the Arlington Ministerial Association.

  • Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman (PHK) is honored in February 2007 as "Corporate Citizen of the Year" by the Kaufman Chamber of Commerce. The chamber bestows the award annually to a business or business owner who best exemplifies the spirit of giving in the Kaufman community.

  • Cheri Lee, director of Community Health Initiatives at Texas Health Resources (THR), is recognized by the Collin County Council on Family Violence as a driving force behind the domestic violence prevention movement in North Texas.

  • Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital is named the 2005 Large Business of the Year by the HEB Chamber of Commerce.
  • Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas is honored by readers of Dallas Child magazine in the 2005 "Best for Families" poll:

  • Presbyterian Healthcare System is named "Best Baby Talk" by D magazine in August 2005, in recognition of baby sign language classes offered at Presbyterian Hospitals of Allen, Dallas and Plano.
  • Harris Methodist H•E•B Hospital is named Corporate Business of the Year by the Southlake Chamber of Commerce at its annual awards banquet March 1, 2005.

  • In June 2004, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas recognizes Texas Health Resources at the fourth Annual Women's Advocacy Awards, for significant contributions to improving the lives of women and children in North Texas.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare System wins the Monroe E. Trout Premier Cares Award in 2001 for its work to improve health in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood of Dallas.
  • Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas wins the first annual 2000 Champion of Community Service Award given by the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance.
  • Texas Health Resources receives an award in 1999 from the Greater Dallas Community Relations Commission for promoting multicultural understanding.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare System wins the 1999 J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award in education for its Presby Pen Pals program.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare System wins the 1998 NOVA Award for collaborative efforts with Parkland, Children's, Baylor and Methodist Hospitals for cosponsoring the Greater Dallas Injury Prevention Center.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare System receives special recognition from the Texas Hospital Association for excellence in Community Service in 1998.
  • Texas Health Resources is honored in 1998 by the Greater Dallas Community Relations Commission with its Valuing Diversity Leadership Award.
  • The Vickery Community Action Team, chaired by Presbyterian Healthcare System, is a 1996 finalist for Distinguished Human Service Team of the Year by the Community Council of Greater Dallas.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare System wins the 1995 NOVA Award from the American Hospital Association for collaborating to improve community health in the Vickery neighborhood.
  • Harris Methodist Health System is a finalist for the 1994 NOVA Award from the American Hospital Association for its infant mortality reduction project.
  • Presbyterian Healthcare System wins the 1993 Outstanding Adopter Award from the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council for the Adopt-A-School program at Benjamin Franklin Middle School.
