Texas Health Stephenville Invites Public to Fifth Annual Fun Run|
STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Lace up those running shoes and prepare to burn a few of those Halloween candy calories.
Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Stephenville will host its fifth annual 2 Your Health Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. on Nov. 20. The event will start at the Stephenville City Park Large Pavilion.
The goal of the two-mile event is to promote active lifestyles for children and adults in the Erath County area. Proceeds will benefit physical education programs at area schools. The entry fee is $7 per person.
“This time of year is a great time for families to make time for walks together where they can enjoy quality family time while getting in some physical activity,” said Shane Wall, a physical therapist at Texas Health Stephenville who is leading the event. “The fall is also a good time to start nightly walks because the air has cooled off from the summer months, while typically still being warm enough for little ones to tag along. We encourage everyone to come out and jumpstart their walking routine at the Nov. 20 event.”
Everyone who walks or runs will receive an award for their participation. Children in kindergarten to sixth grade who finish in first through fifth place in their grade will receive awards.
“We appreciate this opportunity to join together with Texas Health Stephenville to help our students and their families spend a Saturday morning being active,” said Wade Whitehead, a physical education teacher at Chamberlin Elementary School. “This is a great way to start incorporating more activity as a family, particularly around the holidays when most events are focused on food.”
