Texas Health Resources, Cardiologists Announce Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington Joint Venture|
ARLINGTON, Texas — AMH Cath Labs, LLC, a joint venture, physician investor-owned company between Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital and cardiologists on the medical staff, announce the opening of a dedicated heart hospital in Arlington.
Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington, located in the Tom Vandergriff building on Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital’s campus, is a physician-led hospital offering advanced services for the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular conditions. Patients who visit the emergency room at Texas Health Arlington Memorial with these conditions will be transferred to the heart hospital to receive specialized care under a seamless process.
“We have collaborated with highly skilled cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons on the medical staff to forge a visionary partnership that demonstrates our commitment to remain the hospital system of choice for heart and vascular care in North Texas,” said Kirk King, president of Texas Health Arlington Memorial.
The heart hospital, which focuses on treating cardiothoracic and vascular diseases, is comprised of 48 beds, four operating rooms, two cath labs, and one electrophysiology lab. Its services will include:
Dr. Baron L. Hamman, a cardiothoracic surgeon, has been named president of the heart hospital. Hamman specializes in mitral valve repair surgery and off-pump coronary artery bypass graft operation, or “beating heart” surgery, which is an innovative technique used to bypass blocked arteries on the heart without the use of the heart-lung machine. He also specializes in re-operative cardiac surgery and congenital heart surgery in adults, and routinely performs minimally invasive and port access cardiac surgery.
Hamman completed his undergraduate degree in biology at Stanford University and earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and Harvard Medical School. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of the Sarnoff Society of Scholars, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery.
