Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne Adds Pulmonary Rehab Services|
CLEBURNE, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Cleburne has added pulmonary rehabilitation services to help individuals with chronic respiratory diseases to live better lives.
Pulmonary rehab programs offer education and progressive exercise to help individuals improve their stamina and ability to carry out activities of daily living. Individuals with chronic conditions such as COPD, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma and other conditions can benefit from pulmonary rehab.
“People with respiratory diseases often need help building up their ability to breathe more effectively,” said Dr. Andrew Anyadiegwu, a pulmonologist on the medical staff at Texas Health Cleburne. “Patients frequently are amazed at how much easier simple tasks of daily living can be when they are given the tools to breathe better.”
Pulmonary rehab services benefit both patients admitted to the hospital and those who are coming for outpatient treatments. Inpatient services focus on breathing techniques that help to improve the person’s breathing. Outpatient services focus on building a program of breathing techniques, exercise and education.
To offer the services at Texas Health Cleburne, the hospital converted an office space and purchased exercise equipment. A physician’s order is required to seek treatment in the program.
“We are pleased to bring this service to individuals in Johnson County and the surrounding areas,” said Blake Kretz, FACHE, hospital president. For more information, visit www.TexasHealth.org/Cleburne.
