Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford Recognizes Employees, Volunteer for Service to Patients|
BEDFORD, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Hurst-Euless-Bedford places a great importance on employees and volunteers providing high quality patient-focused care and helping to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve. And each year the hospital recognizes employees and volunteers who exemplify that.
“Recognizing our employees and volunteers for the outstanding care they provide each day is always a highlight of my day,” said Deborah Paganelli, FACHE, hospital president. “Our employees, volunteers and physicians on the medical staff are the heartbeat of the hospital and without them we couldn’t care for patients in our community.”
Cory Franks, RN, BSN, recently was awarded the Patient Safety Star. Franks is a patient care facilitator who works on an inpatient unit at the hospital. He diligently works with patients to help them get the care they need upon discharge. He’s also actively involved in performance improvement committees at the hospital and consistently thinks of safety first. Franks has worked at Texas Health HEB for nearly a decade.
Esther Guajardo, RRT, AEC, and Fran Ahel, RRT, AEC, both work in the pulmonary rehabilitation department at Texas Health HEB. They were chosen for the Living the Mission award because of their efforts to help people with breathing problems overcome those challenges. They lead a monthly Better Breathing Club and work with local schools and churches to identify ways to improve people’s health. Ahel has worked at Texas Health HEB for 26 years and Guajardo for 14 years.
Volunteer Marilyn Engdahl received the Helping Hands award. Engdahl has donated her time to Texas Health HEB’s Gift Shoppe for 10 years and serves as treasurer for the Gift Shoppe. In addition, she provides exceptional customer services to guests who come in while maintaining a great attention to detail and dedication to the hospital.
Texas Health Resources CEO Doug Hawthorne recently visited the hospital and surprised the award winners at a town hall meeting in front of their peers.
