Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance Touts Latest Innovations in Technology and Construction

FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance, Texas Health Resources’ newest hospital, is currently under construction and halfway complete. In order to meet the communities’ needs and redesign the way health care is delivered, Texas Health Alliance is using the latest in technology and construction innovations to distinguish this hospital from others in the United States.

The hospital is among only a few buildings in the country to use pre-fabrication techniques in construction. Texas Health Resources opted to build the inside of the hospital at the same time the exterior of the hospital is erected.

“Pre-fabrication is a European technique that allows us to save money and time in the construction of the hospital,” said Winjie Tang Miao, president of Texas Health Alliance. “While the foundation and steel beams of the hospital are put into place, we are building bathrooms, air ducts and patient rooms in a warehouse.”

As the exterior walls of the hospital are closed-in, construction crews will move parts of the hospital’s interior over into the actual facility.

After the majority of the hospital’s construction is complete, Texas Health Resources will begin working with Real Time Locating System (RTLS) technology to personalize the patient’s experience and preferences during their hospital visit.

“RTLS will allow us to monitor all patients in real-time through an advanced patient surveillance system,” Miao added. “It is not only about the bells and whistles. It is about using technology to create an individualized health care experience for each patient’s unique needs.”

Scheduled to be completed in fall 2012, Texas Health Alliance is master-planned for 350 beds, but is constructing 100 beds in this first phase. The hospital will offer women and infants services, general medicine, general surgery, emergency services, outpatient imaging and rehabilitation. The hospital recently opened Texas Health Convenient Care Alliance, which offers occupational health and business health services and will eventually offer primary care to the community.

Residents will also benefit from having physicians’ offices and outpatient services attached to the hospital in a medical office building being co-developed by Texas Health and Cambridge Healthcare Properties, Inc., a Dallas-based medical real estate firm.

Texas Health Alliance is located at Interstate 35 and Golden Triangle Boulevard.
